Be careful what you ask for

The day after "conservative" and "hawkish" Democrat John Murtha made headlines by calling for a troop withdrawal, the House leadership decided to bring the idea to a vote.

How did Democrats react? Here's a sampling.

"A disgrace," declared House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

"The rankest of politics and the absence of any sense of shame," added Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the No. 2 House Democrat.

"You guys are pathetic! Pathetic!" yelled Rep. Marty Meehan, D-Mass.

"It's a pathetic, partisan, political ploy," said Rep. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y.

Added Rep. Ellen Tauscher, D-Calif.: "It's just heinous."

Translation: "We want to beat our chests and bray about a troop withdrawal in order to damage the president, but it's 'heinous' and 'pathetic' to ask us to, you know, actually vote on it."

CRB, I'm glad I'm not watching it. Just reading the AP report was enough to send my blood pressure through the roof.

The cowards and liars that make up the Republican Party, like the true fascists they are, will do anything, no matter how unprecedented or low, to stop any debate of the war, or any airing of differences with Bush. Even debate is felt as "criticism" of poor dumb Dubya.

They know they are all going down with him in two years. Everything they do just makes it worse, because they are too arrogant and cynical to imagine that they can't just bully and bluff their way through yet another pack of lies.

There's nothing either "unprecedneted" or "low" about bringing an inane Democratic measure (REDUNDANCY ALERT: aren't ALL "Democratic measures" inane?) to the floor for a vote.

Murtha's partisan ploy richly deserved a partisan response...and this vote was a very mild one, at that.

All the Democrats (save for three real nitwits) rightly ran away from the measure....come to think of it, I haven't seen/heard EVEN ONE AMERICAN either here or in any other forum voice support for an immediate troop withdrawl from Iraq.

You know? That should be the new Democratic mantra, "For God's sake don't bring up anything we say or support for a VOTE! Quite honestly, we didn't expect you to take us or anything we bring up all that seriously...after all, no one else does."
