Trafficking in tsunami orphans?

The U.N. fears so.

The United Nations said on Tuesday it was concerned children orphaned or separated from their parents by Asia's tsunami may be falling prey to criminal gangs bent on selling them into slavery.

Of course anyone worried about these kids would do well not to leave them unsupervised with U.N. personnel, given what happened in Congo.

When I read last week that tsunami victims homes were being burgled and that women were being raped (isn't that lovely?), I was disgusted. But this? Tragedies like this bring out the best and the worst in people.

I don't think it is been confirmed yet, but then neither would it be surprising to find out it was happening. It is unfortunate that it took a calamity such as this one to bring this pitiful issue back into the headlines. The "level of concern" expressed by the UN should have been expressed a whole hell of a lot more often, with action taken in the countries where this has become an accepted practice. This is not a new issue.

Omg thats right! Please come see me and my friends! ;)
